UKVI Approved Bangladeshi Bank Lists 2023 (Updated)
If you’re a Bangladeshi student planning to study in the UK, it’s important to have the right financial documents, including bank statements from UKVI Approved Bangladeshi Banks. This guide will provide a comprehensive list and help you through the visa application process.
UK Student Visa Application: Why You Need a Bank Statement
To successfully obtain a UK student visa, a bank statement is one of the most critical financial documents you must provide. It serves as evidence that you have the necessary funds to pay for tuition fees and living expenses during your time as a student in the UK. Without a valid bank statement, your visa application may be rejected, so it’s crucial to understand what’s required.
To ensure your bank statement meets the UK student visa application criteria, there are a few key points to consider.
- Firstly, the statement must be an original copy issued within the last 30 days and cover at least 28 consecutive days of transactions.
- Secondly, it must show that you have sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees and living expenses for the first year of study in the UK.
- Finally, the bank statement must be in your name or your parent’s name if it’s a joint account, savings account, current account, or any other savings account with a commercial bank (although saving bonds are not acceptable). By keeping these factors in mind, you can ensure that your bank statement meets the requirements for a UK student visa application and increase your chances of success.
UKVI Approved Bangladeshi Bank Lists:
While the UKVI previously provided a suggested bank list for Bangladeshi applicants applying for UK point-based visas, it is no longer mandatory for applicants after December 2021. This means that students can keep their funds in any approved online commercial bank. While the specific list of approved banks is no longer required, it’s important to ensure that your chosen bank meets the financial requirements for your UK student visa application.
Is a bank statement required for the UK student visa?
Yes, a bank statement is required for the UK student visa application. The bank statement is used to demonstrate that the applicant has enough funds to cover their living expenses and tuition fees while studying in the UK. The statement must be in English, less than three months old at the time of application, and must show the applicant’s name, address, account number, and account type. The balance in the account must also not fall below the minimum required amount specified by the UK government.
Can UK immigration check your bank account?
Yes, the UK government has the authority to request information from your bank about your financial transactions as part of their efforts to crack down on illegal immigration. They may ask your bank to provide details about any transactions that occurred in the last 28 days, including the date, amount, and description of the transaction. However, they can only do so with your consent or if they have a legal basis for doing so, such as a court order. It is important to note that this is done to verify the source of funds and ensure that the visa applicant is not involved in any illegal activities.
Is a bank statement essential for the UK study visa?
Bank statements are not specifically mentioned as a required document for a UK student visa, but applicants may need to provide evidence of their finances to prove that they can support themselves financially during their studies. It is advisable to check with your chosen educational institution and/or the UK government website or contact a visa expert for specific requirements before applying for a student visa.
What kinds of information need to include in the bank statement?
If you’re applying for a UK student visa, you’ll need to provide your bank statement as proof of your financial status. You can provide either an original bank statement or a print-out from your online banking account.
Your bank statement must contain the following information:
- Your name and account number
- The name of the bank and the branch where the account is held
- The type of account (Savings, FDR, Current, or any other savings account on a commercial bank, but saving bond is not acceptable)
- The date range for which the statement is provided
- Your balance on each day should not be below the minimum required range.
While bank statements are not specifically mentioned as a required document, applicants may need to provide evidence of their financial status to prove that they can support themselves during their studies. We recommend checking with your chosen educational institution and/or the UK government website or contacting us for specific requirements before applying for a student visa.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, providing accurate and complete financial documents is crucial for a successful UK student visa application. Failure to do so can lead to delays or even rejection of your application. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the required financial documents or the application process, please don’t hesitate to contact us. What is the Medium of Instruction Certificate?
The Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate is a document issued by your university or educational institute which proves that you have been taught in the medium of instruction accepted by universities in the UK.
The MOI certificate shows the language you have studied, the courses you have taken, and the scores you have obtained from the exams. It helps the universities in the UK to understand your English language proficiency background and decide whether you are eligible for admission or not.

Academic certificates or degrees issued by the institution should also list the medium of instruction on the document. Why Study in the UK – Perspective for Bangladeshi Students
The UK is one of the most popular study-abroad destinations in the world. According to UK Council for International Student Affairs, 4,42,375 foreign students were attending university in the UK in 2016-17. Comprising England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Scotland, the UK is increasingly becoming one of the first choices for numerous Bangladeshi students every year. So what is it which sets the UK apart from other acclaimed options such as the US, Canada, or Germany? What is the primary impetus behind the rising number of applications to the UK? Let’s elucidate some reasons which contribute to the crowning of the UK as a natural choice for Bangladeshi students in the pursuit of overseas education.
Home to Several Best Universities
The UK is famously home to various top Universities, which qualify as the dream University of almost every student. Some examples include the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Imperial College, London, University College of London, and the London School of Economics and Political Science. It is noteworthy that in the UK, 11 Universities find their place in the top 100, another 18 Universities in the top 200, and about ten more are ranked amongst the top 300 across the world.
Cost of Studying
UK seems to score an edge over the US due to cheaper tuition and accommodation rates. Studying abroad comes with a huge expenditure and most of the brunt is borne by your parents, so it is always practical to look for options which fall within your economic range. In the UK, the average tuition fees for undergraduate and graduate students can range between $17,000- $22,000. As opposed to the US, the duration of both the UG and MS programs are shorter in the UK. Here, you can finish your Bachelor’s degree in three years and your Master’s degree in a year. Consequently, this has a direct impact on your overall fee, as a year’s worth of tuition and living cost is deducted from your total budget.
Your time in the UK can be made hassle-free by availing the several discounts the UK blesses you with. For instance, students studying in the UK can take advantage of the 18+ Student Oyster photocard, which means that you will be exempted 30% off travelcards and bus/tram season tickets. Your costs can further be minimized if you apply for an NUS Extra Card, valid throughout the country. The Natwest Student Living Index 2017 helps put things in perspective and states that the Welsh capital Cardiff is the most affordable city concerning students and is followed by Aberdeen, situated in Scotland, and Durham in North-East England.
Relatively Seamless Application Process
Bangladeshi students find it easier to apply to Universities in the UK, than in the US due to a far more seamless procedure which eliminates all stumbling blocks in the way, at least for undergraduate applications. While in the US, some Universities have their individual applications and some are accessible through the Common App portal, the UK applications are straightforward and uniform. One can apply anywhere in the country through one common portal, more famously known as the UCAS, which ensures that you are able to put forth your candidature to a maximum of 5 Universities. The written aspects of an application can be a mind-boggling factor for plenty of students, and applying through UCAS means that you need to prepare a common Statement of Purpose outlining your goals, motivations, and experience so far. On the other hand, US’ applications necessitate many essays which can range from anywhere between 300-650 words. Applying to UK Universities means you save a considerable amount of time as the writing requirements are minimal. Additionally, you don’t need to prepare for examinations such as the SAT/ACT and Bangladeshi Boards such as CBSE or ISC are easily accepted.
Work While Studying
Extra cash while surviving alone in a foreign country, admittedly, never hurt anyone. Universities are equipped with a Career Center which will help you understand the various options through which you can bring home some extra pounds. The standard norm for students is to work for up to 20 hours a week, and you will be rewarded with an hourly pay of $10-$12. Unique opportunities can be found in any field. For, eg, if you are majoring in Finance, you can attain an internship in an accounting firm and work as an apprentice under an accountant. Similarly, you can function as a paralegal in a law firm while pursuing your law degree. Such internships are a golden opportunity to add something worthwhile to your Resume and grasp hands-on knowledge through on the job learning. Internships also play a crucial role when you eventually sit for job interviews, and if you are successful in attaining a substantial amount of knowledge through your internship experience, you might make it a little easy for the interviewer to announce the verdict in your favor.
Work Permit
It is a constant worry of students whether they will be able to secure a job post the completion of their degrees, or will have to pack their bags to return to Bangladesh. Much to your relief, the UK has a plethora of opportunities for Bangladeshi students, and if you are considering staying back to find employment, you need not fret. November 2015 marked some crucial changes in the post-study work visa in the UK. Post your graduation; you will be allowed to stay in the UK if you can fetch a job with an annual salary of 20,800 pounds which is equivalent to INR 18.3 Lakhs. Working in the UK after the conclusion of your education necessitates you to switch from a Tier 4 Visa to a Tier 2 General Visa. The latter kind of Visa is available to recent graduates who have attained their Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD. degree in the UK.
Scholarship Opportunities
Sustaining and supporting yourself in the UK comes with enormous costs and the Universities understand this as much as you do. Financing your education becomes relatively more comfortable with the aid provided by merit-based scholarships. Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan 2017, Sheffield Hallam’s University Scholarship for Sport Business Management, UK, Hornby Scholarships, University of Oxford’s Rhodes Scholarship, and Oxford-Indira Gandhi Graduate Scholarship are a few noted names amongst the multitude of scholarships which continue to grab the attention of Bangladeshi students. This is coupled with academic excellence awards which hand out about 20-25% fee discounts, which is bound to ease your overall burden.
Language- Not a Barrier Anymore
Since English is not Bangladeshis’ first language, it is not uncommon for students to be apprehensive about how will they settle in a country where English is the dominant language. The problem is taken care of by the Universities, and several of them offer pathway courses to enhance your grasp over the English language. The course has to be completed before progressing to an undergraduate or postgraduate programme and will make your University education a smooth ride. To attain a clear picture, you can dig up the internet and research about the pathway programmes offered by Cambridge Education Group, Dublin International Foundation College, Oxford International Education Group, and the University of Essex International College.
Your Ticket to Assimilating Yourself in a Multicultural Experience
Thousands of Bangladeshi students undertake the annual academic pilgrimage to the UK, which ultimately means that the number of Bangladeshis living in the country is rising at a gallop. According to the data available on Wikipedia, “the number of Bangladeshi students studying in the Uk nearly doubled between 1999 and 2009 when 19,205 Bangladeshi students were studying at UK institutions. As of May 2010, half of all Bangladeshi students in the UK were studying at the postgraduate level.” The world is turning into a global village faster than ever before, and one is required to adjust to new surroundings and diverse workplaces quickly. Your experience in the UK will help you achieve just that, and much more when you find yourself studying in a vibrant environment and will befriend people from multiple ethnicities. This experience will help you mold yourself into an accommodating person, appreciative of starkly different viewpoints and perspectives.
An array of reasons make the UK one of the most preferred choices of Bangladeshi students. If you, too, have housed a dream in your mind for a long time and have made it a point in your dream catalog to attain a degree from abroad, you might consider the UK as one of your options. In addition to the reasons listed above, a thorough internet perusal will help you decide which University caters the best according to your skillset and overall profile. Channelize your efforts and time in the right direction, and who knows, you might as well turn out to be the next best Bangladeshi alumni Oxford has produced!
